Entered into rest on February 25, 2013. He was 91 years of age. Charles was born in Evansville, Indiana on May 29, 1921 to Lillian and Charles H. Wedeking and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Betty, of 58 years. Charles is survived by his devoted daughters, Jane Wesley (David) of Placerville and Pam Wortman of Rocklin; his loving grandchildren, Charles Wesley (Alexis), Linda Han (Phong), Sarah Wortman and Christopher Wortman; his sisters Dorothy Roeder and June Wedeking, and his brother Donald Wedeking. Charles served his country in the Navy during World War II, as a Seabee in the Aleutian Islands and at Wake Island. He met Betty during this time and relocated to California to begin their life and family together. Charles enjoyed a successful career as a General Contractor, building homes in Evansville, Oakland, Lake Tahoe, and the Sacramento area. In later years he remodeled many homes. After retirement he joined the Haggin Oaks SIR'S and actively played golf as often as he could. Charles and Betty traveled frequently once they both retired, enjoying cruises and road trips. He also had a green thumb and provided delicious vegetables for family and friends. For the last 3½ years, Charles was lovingly cared for by the devoted staff at Sunrise Assisted Living in Rocklin where he enjoyed visits and excursions with his family several times a week. His square dancing with Betty prepared him to dance with his caregivers at Sunrise. A memorial service will be held on March 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel in Rocklin, followed by a committal ceremony, with military honors, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1455 Response Road, Suite 190, Sacramento, CA 95815.
