Charlie was born September 18, 1930 in Frederick, MD. Upon completing high school, Charlie went on to attend Canterbury College in Danville, Indiana. From there, Charlie joined the Army where he served his country as a helicopter pilot, Commanding Officer of the Infantry and was promoted to the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. In 1963, while stationed in Rio de Janeiro, Charlie met and married the love of his life, Karin Vonnegut.
In 1971 Charlie retired from the Headquarters 6th US Army Presidio in San Francisco. Charlie, Karin and daughter Anne then moved to Scotts Valley, CA to begin his second successful career in banking and real estate development. Charlie was also the superintendent of the Silicon Valley Development firm during this time. After retiring as the Vice President of Eureka Federal Savings, Charlie and Karin built and moved to their dream home in Incline Village, NV. There, Charlie began his third career serving as an EMT on the ski patrol. Charlie was a devoted family man who enjoyed skiing, boating, golfing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Charlie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and celebrated veteran who enjoyed life.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife Karin, daughter Anne Rawlinson, and grandchildren Danielle and Bradley Rawlinson.
