Carol was born and grew up in San Francisco, California with her parents Bernice (Bern) and William (Bill) Osborne and her older sister, Diane. Her compassionate heart and loving spirit were nurtured by her family, who showed love actively in an encouraging environment that focused on serving others in their community. She married the love of her life, "Bus" Gehring, in 1972 and they celebrated 42 years together this past July. Carol, who didn't have any natural born children, was a loving "Mommy" to all of us! She understood the true meaning of the word "LOVE" and showed it through her extreme patience with people and generosity with her time and resources.
Carol lived in Penryn for 37 years-high on a hill overlooking the beautiful foothills of California…befitting for her fondness of the outdoors. Carol loved to play, have fun and laugh! She enjoyed water-skiing, camping and Christian retreats in Lake Tahoe with her family and friends, she loved to dance and she was blessed with a variety of vacations throughout her life. In addition, Carol appreciated entertaining her family and friends in her home where she enjoyed getting her garden ready for visitors. Carol's home was always "open" and although the "view" is special-"her children" would come over to "be" with her-seeking her warm company and inspiring words of wisdom.
Most of Carol's career was in the life insurance business where she was a Policy Specialist. She was well respected for her dedication to doing an outstanding job and her approachable personality that made her a joy to work with.
As an adult, Carol's passion for the Lord and His Word became an important part of her life. A member of First Presbyterian Church (now Centerpoint Community), Carol served as a Deacon showing genuine love to her friends that had the opportunity to serve with her, as well as the community, in their times of need. In addition to adding good friends to her life, when Carol joined Bible studies, her passion for the Lord increased even more. "Getting to know her God", as Carol would say, gave her peace and serenity in this sometimes chaotic life. As she grew in His grace, she would share the Lord's message of salvation and His great love in humble enthusiasm, extreme patience and a life that reflected her learning and His Holy Spirit living in her. Carol had an amazing way about her that never pushed people away, but made us want to know more about the God she so loved.
After fighting for every last breath and good deed in her, Carol was ready to go home to be with Jesus, her Mommy, Daddy and Sister/best friend. She will be missed beyond words by her husband, Bus, her children, Brenda (with Scott) and Dan, her nieces and their husbands, Lisa & Dan and Sharon & Kip, her grandchildren, Danielle and Weston & Chantee, her great grandson, Ryder, her great niece, Nikki, her great nephews, Chase, Justin, Payton and Evan, her Aunt Carmela, her cousins Frank and Laura, her sweet Westie, "Nikki", and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends. We were extremely blessed to have Carol's loving spirit in our lives! She entered Heaven, leaving this world a better place through the many lives she greatly touched!
Please join us as we celebrate Carol's beautiful life with a Memorial Service and Reception on October 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Centerpoint Community Church, 515 Sunrise Avenue, Roseville, Ca 95661.
