Bonnie Raye Jackson was born in Sylvester, Georgia. She traveled the world and has been a resident of Sacramento California since 1979. She was the third eldest of six children. She was preceded in death by Grandparents, John Gordon, and Annie Lee Gordon, Father, Robert Jackson, Brother, Larry Jackson, Aunties, Betty Whitt Brantley and Agnes Gordon, Uncles, John, Joe, and Willie Gordon and Nephew, Johnny Miller.
Bonnie went to Central High, in Newark New Jersey and graduated Rutgers University of New Brunswick, New Jersey with a Bachelor's of Arts in Economics. In her Early adulthood, Bonnie participated in the Upward Bound Program and was a member of First Timothy Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Mary Tyler Moore Show and was inspired by this single female professional traveling the world and aspired to be like her.
Bonnie enjoyed rising to work each morning. Her first job was at Royal Globe Insurance company in New York City, New York. Her crowning career joy was as District Manager of USAA Insurance Company where she blossomed. Bonnie was the absolute best at employee recognition. This brought her great joy. In one stand out effort, Bonnie developed a lavish Oscar recognition event with trophies and red carpet. She was a well-loved manager by those who worked with her and for her. Bonnie retired after 27 years of dedicated service.
Bonnie was the type of person who lit up the room! She was a believer in God and it was obvious. She was gentle, kind, generous, and encouraging. She was also fun, creative, silly and full of life! Bonnie was a fun seeking and peace seeking. Her positivity and warmth transcended culture and race. She was very open, accepting of others with an outgoing spirit. If you were having a bad day, you felt better about life having talked with her. People seemed to gravitate to her for an ear and encouragement right there at her desk. Bonnie was an incredibly devoted friend. Bonnie was truly one of a kind and those who encountered her were better for it.
Her greatest love was travel and adventure and she often traveled with friends and family. Bonnie was on a mission to travel every quarter. Her travels took her to Alaska, Egypt, Haiti, Waikiki, Maui, Cancun, Italy, Paris, Athens, Greece, the Bahamas, Playa Blanca, Puerto-Vallarta and Cancun Mexico (to see Chichen Itza), Nice, Florence, Rome, Turks and Caicos, Club Med-Ixtapa, Martinique. Her bucket list included Australia and going on an African Safari. Bonnie greeted everybody warmly, there were no strangers. She has friends across the world that she stayed connected by letter and phone.
Bonnie had a notable sense of style which could be seen in her extensive wardrobe. She loved reading, shopping, dancing, scary movies and puzzles.
Bonnie is survived by and will be dearly missed by her Mother, Shirley Mae Jackson, of Sylvester, Georgia, Siblings (4); Robert Jackson, Jr of Albany, Georgia, Shirley Ann Miller of Tifton, Georgia, Carolyn Jackson and Timothy Jackson of Sacramento, California, Niece; Sakinah C. Miller of Atlanta, Georgia, Nephew; Jackie Ray Miller of Atlanta, Georgia, and a host of cousins, life- long friends and friends across the world.
