William "Bill" Wistrich, born on July 25, 1954, in Berkeley, California, touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. With a remarkable career spanning 38 years, he started as an assistant manager at JCPenney transitioning to various companies as a procurement specialist. His journey culminated at Boston Scientific, where he left a legacy of hard work and expertise.
Bill’s life was more than just his career; it was a testament to the kindness and generosity that defined him. His family was his proudest accomplishment, and he loved them deeply. He is survived by Katie Wistrich, his devoted wife; their children Matthew Wistrich and his wife Candace, Meghann Wistrich and her partner Fabian Lejsek, and Peter Wistrich and his fiance Van Nguyen. The joy of his life also included his grandchildren Aaliyah Wistrich, Haley Wistrich, and Aidan Lejsek. Bill admired his brother Andrew Wistrich and sister-in-law Yolanda Adra, providing a strong foundation of support and love.
Bill's spirit resonated through the many memories shared with family and friends. He had a remarkable talent for bringing laughter and joy into everyday moments, often spicing up conversations with dad jokes and insightful commentary. His humorous criticism of music—especially when he labelled parts of Metallica's music as “fillers”—never failed to amuse those around him. Who could forget the days spent driving around with the sounds of ZZ-Top and Tom Petty playing, while he drummed on the steering wheel.
A compassionate man, Bill's heart was as big as his sense of humor. He was known for his spontaneous acts of kindness; whether it was buying meals for those in need or simply lending a helping hand to a friend or family member. More than once, he rolled down the window wanting to help someone in need, offering to buy them a meal, reflecting his genuine character and generous spirit.
Throughout his life, Bill balanced his work with a passion for hobbies that spoke to his social nature—whether it was discussing sports, listening to music, or diving into the intricacies of the stock market. He even dabbled in tennis, golf, table tennis, and guitar when he was younger, creating a rich tapestry of interests that he happily shared with others.
Bill’s journey came to an untimely end on September 3, 2024, after a battle with aortic valve stenosis that led to complications during a medical procedure. His passing is mourned not only by his immediate family but by all those who were touched by his kindness and humor.
Preceding him in death were his mother Gladys Wistrich, father Harry Wistrich, in-laws Jack Burns and Joan Burns, brother-in-law Tim Burns, and sister-in-law Cindy McCormack.
Bill leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and generosity that will echo in the hearts of those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 21, 2024, at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel in Rocklin, California, where family and friends will gather to honor the beautiful life he lived. His memory will forever live on in the stories shared, the laughter exchanged, and the love he so freely gave.
