Adoracion Amay Butler

Adoracion (Dori) Amay Butler was a caring wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2023 at the age of 76. 

Dori was born in the Philippines to Maximo and Fermina Amay on May 25, 1947. She was the seventh of nine children. Dori married her husband Jay Butler on January 4, 1986. 

Before moving to the US, Dori was a high school teacher. She was also involved in the Peace Corps Program and volunteered at the international charity Mercy Ships.

In the US, Dori was employed by Mercy Hospital in Sacramento managing insurance accounts. She then went on to work for the State of California where she retired as an accounting specialist. 

Dori loved music and singing. She enjoyed karaoke. She and Jay were choir members and were involved in their church for many years. Dori also enjoyed travelling with her husband and family. 

Dori loved the Lord and enjoyed helping people. She was often taking seniors to their doctor appointments, inviting others for a meal, and offering encouragement and support to those in need. Dori and Jay worked with Gideons International to distribute Bibles in their community and beyond.  

Family was very important to Dori, and she loved family gatherings. She always opened her home to family and friends especially those whose loved ones were not around. She invited and hosted many guests and made everyone feel welcome and at home.

Dori was selfless, generous, and loyal. She was a peacemaker, she served faithfully, and loved the Lord. Her family and friends will never forget her. She is greatly loved and deeply missed.
