Adeline (Adele) Best 90 years old of Roseville, CA, passed away on February 23, 2015 at home surrounded by her friends Tina Minasian who was also her caregiver and Patient Advocate, Charlene Good, Doris Easley, Anneliese Grasshof and Jim Burckle. Adele was born on November 14, 1924, in Pound, Wisconsin to Fred and Bertha White who were both born in Russia. Adele was raised on a farm with all the values of thrift, honesty and hard work of a child of the "Depression." She was the 13th of 14 children and out lived all of her siblings. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and 2 sisters-in-law. She was known to her family as "Addie" and to her friends as "Adele." After graduating from high school, Adele proudly served during WWII as a US Navy WAVE, Yeoman 2nd Class. She was stationed at Treasure Island, SF, CA as a Transfer Yeoman. After serving in the Navy, she went onto work for the Civil Service as a Secretary for Naval Intelligence in San Francisco and Alaska. She loved and served her country proudly and showed her patriotism everyday. She had a huge heart and was a friend to all and touched so many lives. She overcame many adversities and successfully battled ovarian cancer. A life well-lived doing volunteer work for the Roseville Police Department for 19 years, Neighborhood Watch, Emblem Club, Roseville Women's Improvement Club, AARP, NARFE, Sacramento Waves, Sun City Roseville Vets, SPCA, Accordion and Organ Clubs and many more totaling 40 years of volunteer service. Adele was in good health and active until Christmas of 2014. Her death was sudden. She was secure in her faith and realized that ALL her good deeds and the love she spread was a manifestation of her love for God and Country. She was ready to meet her Savior. Her final resting place will be with her beloved husband Richard and dog "Benji" at the Veteran Riverside National Cemetery. Viewing Service on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel, 6920 Destiny Drive, Rocklin. Honor Guard & Church Service from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm at Pleasant Grove Community Church, 1730 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville. Immediately following the church service, dinner will be served accompanied by music from the 40's and the 50's by Mike Branson Sr. at Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel in Rocklin. The Graveside Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery at 2PM on March 20, 2015 with Dove ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Placer SPCA in honor of Adele, 916-782-7722.
